BLEPHAROPLASTY

What is blepharoplasty?

The gaze is a fundamental part of our face: where much of our expressiveness is concentrated. Therefore, it is one of the most obvious places where the aging process begins to take center stage.

The drooping of the eyelid not only makes us look much older, but it also gives our gaze a sad, tired and dull appearance. In addition to causing a decrease in the visual field. The truth is that, in many cases, there are patients who present drooping, swollen and tired-looking eyelids not only due to the passage of time.

There are also people who experience localized fat accumulation in that area or present strong laxity due to genetic or related factors, even due to stress.

Blepharoplasty is therefore the surgery that allows us to treat the signs of aging in the region of the upper and lower eyelids. This eyelid surgery allows us to remove excess skin and restore the aesthetic tension of the area, excising when necessary the fat bags that may have formed under the lower or upper eyelid.

BENEFITS OF
BLEPHAROPLASTY

With this procedure, we can improve very obvious problems that affect the eyelid area. On the one hand, we treat excess skin, with its corresponding laxity and flaccidity. And on the other hand, we treat fat bags.

The benefits expected with laser blepharoplasty compared to conventional blepharoplasty are:

  • Ambulatory procedure that does not require hospitalization

  • Less disability time when using laser technology as it promotes recovery and healing

  • Rejuvenation of the orbital region

  • Improvement and amplitude of the visual field in patients with excess skin and flaccidity

  • Expanding the gaze and correcting the small wrinkles that arise on the eyelids due to that excess skin

  • Eliminates the excess fat present at the eyelids causing "bags"

  • Reduction of eyelid inflammation and the feeling of exhaustion in the gaze

  • Improvement of vision in people who had a large excess of tissue and poor muscle function in the upper eyelid

  • Allows complementary treatments to achieve the best results in terms of facial rejuvenation. For example, removal of excess skin from the eyebrow by lifting it a little, or the use of hyaluronic acid fillers, calcium hydroxylapatite or botulinum toxin, depending on the needs of each patient

What does the surgery consist of?

It is an outpatient procedure that can be performed with local anesthesia and/or local anesthesia and sedation. Excess skin is planned and marked for removal on the upper and/or lower eyelid, and through a hidden incision on the eyelid fold, the planned excess skin is removed. If necessary, excess fat is removed. Subdermal sutures are performed and immediately use laser for tissue healing, hemostasis and to enhance the final aesthetic result.

Which patients are candidates?

  • Patients who want to rejuvenate their gaze, correct eyelid bags, which often appear with age or due to congenital causes

  • Patients with excess skin on the upper eyelid that causes decreased visual field and a tired gaze

  • Patients with excess fat on the upper and/or lower eyelid

  • Patients with congenital asymmetries to improve aesthetic aspects through corrective surgery
